The Indiana History Train

The Indiana Historical Society’s Indiana History Train will offer a new exhibit this year! “Made in Indiana” celebrates our state’s creativity and innovations, exploring the invention process by using Hoosier examples aboard three renovated freight cars. Through historical resources from IHS’s archival collections and other sources, the exhibit highlights products with roots in Indiana, from automobiles to medical innovations, musical instruments, and agricultural equipment. Each story connects with one of the invention process steps: define a problem, do research, make a prototype, file a patent, and market the invention. The incorporation of local examples, accompanied by artifacts and video components, provides visitors with historical context and hands-on learning while providing inspiration and pride in their home state.
