Sunday, August 7, 2022 - The Indiana State Fair 4-H Grand Drive is the Super Bowl of the livestock show season for 4-H exhibitors from across Indiana. After tight competitions, several of the exhibitors were crowned Grand and Reserve Champions Sunday evening during the 2022 Indiana State Fair Grand Drive, presented by Farm Credit Mid-America. During the event, 4-H members showed livestock of various species, weights, and classes on the prestigious dirt in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Categories included Dairy Steer, Meat Goat Wether, Meat Goat Wether Dam, Market Lamb, Market Barrow, Beef Heifer, and Beef Steer.

Indiana State Fair Band Day Announced Top Ten & 2022 Winner

August 5, 2022, INDIANAPOLIS, IN – After a hard-fought battle and incredible performances from a day full of competition at the Indiana State Fair, the 2022 Indiana State Fair Band Day, presented by Music Travel Consultants and Paige’s Music, competition has officially concluded. This was the 75th Indiana State Fair Band Day and the final contest of the Central Indiana Track Show Association’s (CITSA) season for the bands that competed today. After much deliberation among the judges, Kokomo High School was crowned “Indiana’s Best Band” and took home the first-place trophy.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN 4/11/2022 - Alyssa McKillip, Miss Wabash County 2020, was crowned the 63rd Indiana State Fair Queen on Sunday the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.

Miss Indiana State Fair 2022 was selected over 105 other contestants and is the third representative of Wabash County to hold the honor. The Indiana State Fair Queen plays a key role in representing the Indiana State Fair by traveling nearly 6,500 miles during June and July to approximately 45 counties statewide. This role serves as an important State Fair ambassador, raising awareness and bringing to life the vision of the Indiana State Fair: to be recognized as the best State Fair in the country, showcasing agriculture& youth in an educational and entertaining environment.

The show will feature singing snowmen (over 20’ tall), a life-sized Nativity, Candyland, a giant American flag and a spectacular 240 ft. wall of lights, making it the largest synchronized show in Central Indiana. This dazzling light display will be open from 6-10 p.m., November 12 through January 2, 2022.

Offering kids and parents a free, safe place to spend Halloween, the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center’s Safe Night Halloween is open to children ages 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult. August 23, 2021, INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2021 Indiana State Fair closed yesterday following an 18-day event schedule. Under a new format, the State Fair was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and added an additional weekend, which helped to spread out crowds across the additional day. As a result, the 2021 Indiana State Fair welcomed a total of 830,390 fairgoers throughout its 18 days.

Friends, family and community members of these champions filled the stands of the Coliseum to recognize their accomplishments.

Indiana State Fair FAIRs Care Food Drive 2021 Winners Announced

August 21, 2021, INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Since 2013, the Indiana State Fair has partnered with the Indiana Association of Fairs (INAF) and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry (FIsH) to implement the FAIRs Care County Food Drive program. The goal of FAIRs Care is to raise awareness of local hunger needs and help feed hungry Hoosiers. This year, participating counties have collected 33,548 total pounds of food and raised $74,240.21 for local food pantries this year. Using the Feeding American calculation, dividing the total pounds collected by 1.2, the donations collected this year equate to 27,957 meals – enough to provide about 77 Hoosiers with a meal every day for an entire year.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, August 19, 2021 – Twenty-three food vendors at the Indiana State Fair have spent the last two weeks battling for the title of “2021 Indiana State Fair Taste of the Fair Champion” as they offered fairgoers some of the most wacky, creative and delicious treats the fair has ever seen. After 14 days of selling their Taste of the Fair food items in hopes of obtaining the most votes, the title of 2021 Grand Champion Taste of the Fair and a $2,500 cash prize has been awarded to Cinni Minis, offered by R&W Concessions.

Beginning at 4 p.m., 4-H exhibitors representing livestock of various species took to the dirt to compete for the prestigious titles of Supreme and Reserve Supreme Champions. The Supreme Drive features all female breeding animals, including gilts, ewes, heifers, and cows, recognizing the best breeding stock Indiana has to offer.

INDIANAPOLIS (August 12, 2021) – Indiana State Fairgoers are invited to celebrate the Hoosier spirit on Saturday, August 14 during Hoosier Lottery Day.

Throughout the day, visitors 18 and older with a Hoosier Lottery gate voucher will receive a FREE $1 Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off, while supplies last. The gate vouchers are distributed upon entry to the Indiana State Fair and may be redeemed for a $1 LOADED $50 Scratch-off at Hoosier Lottery Town or at the Hoosier Lottery trailer on State Fair Boulevard. The Powerball®, Mega Millions® and Hoosier Lotto® mascots will also be strolling the fairgrounds throughout the day.

Indianapolis, IN, August 6, 2021 - The Indiana State Fair Commission held a groundbreaking ceremony today and announced the naming rights to the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, a $50 million, 197,000 square foot, multiuse facility that will replace the almost century-old Swine Barn at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to Governor Holcomb, the Indiana General Assembly, and our corporate partner, Indiana Farm Bureau, for supporting this transformational project, said Cindy Hoye, Indiana State Fair Commission executive director. “This is the last of our major livestock buildings to be renovated and will help us bring even more compelling events, including large sporting events, to Indiana.”

Inaugural Deep Fry Dash for Damar set for Aug. 4 during Indiana State Fair

The Indiana State Fair,scheduled for July 30-August 22 (CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays), will host the inaugural Deep Fry Dash for Damar presented by Meridian Health Services, a 5K and one-mile fun run through the Indiana State Fairgrounds on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Open to runners and walkers of all ages, the event will benefit two great causes: Damar Services, which cares for children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism, and the Indiana State Fair Foundation, which raises funds to support year-around agriculture education, youth development and campus stewardship efforts of the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, June 8, 2021 – For the first time in its history, the National Swine Registry (NSR) will host the Exposition Swine Show in Indianapolis at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, June 13-19. The Exposition was historically held in conjunction with the World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork industry-specific trade show, in Des Moines, Iowa until 2019 when it was established as a separate, stand-alone event.

WALWORTH, Wis. – July 21, 2020 – Mecum Auctions held its most successful Indianapolis auction to date as the 33rd annual flagship event climbed to just more than $74 million in overall sales. In all, the 2020 auction was host to 1,800 vehicles and more than 6,000 Road Art lots offered over nine auction days, July 10-18. The sprawling Indy lineup ultimately achieved an overall sell-through rate of 90% as the vehicles alone reached an exceptional 78% sold. Notably, 346 of the vehicles offered were sold to online-only bidders for a total of $10.3 million.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 8, 2020) — The Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center and Anheuser Busch are stepping up to help during the pandemic by hosting an American Red Cross blood drive to boost blood supplies. The blood drive will take place on World Blood Donor Day, Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center, 1202 East 38th Street in Indianapolis, with a goal to collect 75 blood donations.

Indianapolis, IN 6/4/2020 - Today the Indiana State Fair Commission and the Indiana State Fair Board announced a modified State Fair 4-H Livestock Show with additional activities that will be held on the State Fairgrounds in August. This year’s traditional Indiana State Fair will not take place. Ultimately, the difficult decision was driven by the impact of COVID-19.

March 10, 2020, INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Great Indiana State Fair, taking place August 7-23, announces that its 2020 theme BASKETBALL presented by Pacers Sports & Entertainment will be dedicated to all things related to the sport, with an homage to Indiana’s rich basketball legacy. The theme will be activated through multiple interactive experiences, including All-Star Court (a Basketball Amusement Park), the Pacers Sports & Entertainment Court, daily storytelling moments – 17 of Indiana’s greatest basketball stories told through the 17 days of the Fair, team player meet & greets, and so much more.

MOSCOW, Idaho – For the first time since 1992, when it was held in Columbus, Ohio, the National Appaloosa Horse Show & Youth World Championship is coming back to the Midwest. The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) and the Indiana State Fair Commission today signed a 3-year agreement to hold one of America’s oldest and most prestigious horse shows in Indianapolis, beginning in 2021.

2020 Miss Indiana State Fair Queen Crowned

INDIANAPOLIS, IN 1/5/20 - Claudia Duncan, Miss Vanderburgh County, was crowned the 62nd Indiana State Fair Queen today at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center. Claudia is the 4th representative from Vanderburgh County to be crowned Miss Indiana State Fair following Karen Kosester, 1974; Tate Fritchley, 2016 and Becca Lax, 2017.

Miss Indiana State Fair 2020 was selected over 83 other contestants after three days of judging. The Indiana State Fair Queen plays a key role in promoting the Indiana State Fair by traveling at least 10,000 miles during June and July to approximately 45 counties in preparation for the great Indiana State Fair, August 7-23, 2020.
