Looking for a fulfilling and exciting internship or job this summer? Paid summer positions are available at Indiana’s largest multi-day event – The 2020 Indiana State Fair!

Departments and available positions:

Accounting Office: This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Accounting Department by completing daily tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling and creating financial reports for ISFC staff and Fair Board members. This position is excellent for accounting, finance or business administration students.

Box Office: The Box Office Intern will provide patrons with a positive customer service experience at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum Box Office, providing performance information and assisting with purchases of event tickets for all venues on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This position is well-suited for students with an interest in business, sports management, hospitality or a related field.

Communications/PR: The Communications Intern completes several tasks throughout the summer regarding marketing messaging for the Indiana State Fair, such as collecting and distributing information for the Fair’s Information Booth personnel and promoting special events and programs. The position is excellent for a student in marketing, agriculture or communications.

Concessions/Event Services: This position is dedicated to assisting with the day-to-day functions of the Event Services Team and in the coordination of State Fair concessions and campground inquiries. This is an excellent position for a student with an interest in hospitality and tourism, sales, marketing and business.

Contracts: The Contracts Intern performs a variety of administrative procedures in the preparation, full execution and implementation of contracts with outside providers of goods and services. This is an excellent position for students with an interest in legal or paralegal studies.

Education: The Education Internship is an interdisciplinary internship with a focus on the research and implementation of educational programming which will take place before and during the Indiana State Fair. This position is well-suited for students with an academic background in education, agriculture or science.

Entertainment & Events: Hires gain experience while promoting the State Fair’s entertainment related events across Indiana and nationwide. Duties include fulfilling entertainment contracts and meeting operational needs for various entertainment acts and special events. Positions are excellent for those with an academic background in marketing, communications, public relations, ag communications and advertising.

Entry Department: The position of Entry Department Intern is part of the team that works to coordinate all livestock shows, competitions and 4-H exhibits during the Indiana State Fair. This intern will have a chance to work on several projects including fair exhibitor communications, event preparations, show entry, and event planning for shows and contests. Positions are open to those of all areas of study with an interest in agriculture, show management and the Indiana State Fair.

Graphic Design: The Graphic Design Intern will have several tasks including, but not limited to, assisting with all digital design components of the Indiana State Fair marketing campaign. This position will assist the Graphic Designer with high-quality materials for print and web-based needs. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite programs and academic background in graphic design or communications.

Human Resources: Interns will help with the enormous task of hiring and processing approximately 1,000 seasonal employees to work the Indiana State Fair. Duties include performing background checks, scheduling and executing employee interviews, processing payroll paperwork and creating credentials for Fair workers. This position is good for students with a background in human resources, business, psychology or any other area of study.

Safety & Security – EOC: EOC interns will be the primary staff for the Indiana State Fairgrounds Emergency Operations Center. Interns will assist with the planning and preparedness phase prior to the Fair, staff training, coordinating public safety resources and more. These positions are active May through August and are excellent for students with backgrounds in law enforcement or public safety.

Safety & Security – Hazard Assessment Team: The Hazard Assessment Team will be in the field identifying and mitigating hazards. Interns will also coordinate safety and security needs and assist with on-scene emergency response. These positions are active mid-July through the end of the Fair. A background in law enforcement or public safety is preferred.

Safety & Security – Security Operations: These positions will assist with managing perimeter security during the State Fair. They will work with Safety & Security staff, the Indiana State Police and contracted staff to manage magnetometer operations and vehicle and pedestrian safety and security at all Fair gates.
