SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Looking for a fulfilling and exciting internship or job this summer? Paid summer positions are available!

Departments and available positions:

Accounting: This Accounting Office Intern is responsible for providing assistance to the Accounting Department in completing daily tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling, filing, data entry and creating reports for ISFC staff. This position is a good match for those studying Accounting, Finance or Business.

Education: The Education Internship is an interdisciplinary internship with a focus on the research and implementation of educational programming which will take place before and during the Indiana State Fair. This position is well-suited for students with an academic background in education, agriculture, or science.

Emergency Operations Center: EOC interns will be the primary staff for the Indiana State Fairgrounds Emergency Operations Center. Interns will assist with the planning and preparedness phase prior to the Fair, staff training, coordinating public safety resources and more. These positions are active May through August and are excellent for students with backgrounds in law enforcement or public safety.

Entertainment & Events: Entertainment & Events interns gain experience while promoting the State Fair’s entertainment related events across Indiana and nationwide. Duties include fulfilling entertainment contracts and meeting operational needs for various entertainment acts and special events. Positions are excellent for those with an academic background in marketing, communications, public relations, ag communications, and advertising.

Entry Department: The position of Entry Department Intern is part of the team that works to coordinate all livestock shows, competitions, and
4-H exhibits during the Indiana State Fair. This intern will have a chance to work on several projects including fair exhibitor communications, event preparations, show entry, and event planning for shows and contests. Positions are open to those of all areas of study with an interest in agriculture, show management, and the Indiana State Fair.

Human Resources: Interns will help with the enormous task of hiring and processing approximately 1,000 seasonal employees to work the Indiana State Fair. Duties include performing background checks, scheduling and executing employee interviews, processing payroll paperwork, and creating credentials for Fair workers. This position is good for students with a background in human resources, business, psychology, or any other area of study.

Livestock: The Livestock Intern is part of the team that works to coordinate all livestock shows and competitions during the Indiana State Fair. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in agriculture, livestock exhibition, event coordination and the Indiana State Fair.

Promotions & Events: This position provides assistance in the planning and implementation of events and building programming around the Fairgrounds for the State Fair. Areas of involvement include, the Indiana Beer and Wine Exhibition, Agriculture/Horticulture Building, Indiana Arts Building, and more. This position is available to those of all areas of study looking toward a career in event production and marketing.

Safety & Security: Safety & Security Interns support the entire operation of the Safety & Security Department during the Indiana State Fair by responding to medical incidents, managing guest screening, and conducting hazard assessments as well as other duties required by the Emergency Operations Center. The position is appropriate for undergraduate or graduate students who desire a career in law enforcement, security, fire service, EMS, venue safety/security or emergency management.

Sign Shop: Hires help design and produce signs and banners for all State Fairgrounds events, including the State Fair, while providing excellent customer service to everyone we serve. Positions are excellent for candidates pursuing a career in graphic design, marketing, and visual communication.


Social Media: The Social Media Intern will assist with the planning and implementation of the 2023 Indiana State Fair Marketing Plan, social media content development, and guest relations. This position is excellent for a student interested in advertising, communications, or marketing.

Sponsorship: The Sponsorship Intern will assist with the planning and implementation of all corporate sponsorships during the Indiana State Fair. This position will also handle group sales for the event. The intern will gain exceptional experience in event planning, event management and program implementation. The position is open to students of all areas of study with an interest in event production, operations, or marketing.
