Burton’s Maplewood Farm: Cooking with Maple Syrup Contest Judging

Indiana Artisan, Tim Burton and his family, owners of Burton’s Maplewood Farm in Medora want to encourage all Hoosiers to discover and experience the natural goodness, unique flavor and consistency of 100% pure maple syrup. Create a savory main dish, side dish, snack, bread, cake or other sweet treat.

Entry Check-in

Saturday, August 9 from 9:00 – 3:30pm in the Culinary Arts Department, Indiana Arts Building

RULES

Entrants must bring their prepared food and a typed recipe to the Indiana Arts Building by 2:30pm on Saturday, August 9th.
Contestants of any age are welcome to participate.
Limit of 1 entry per exhibitor.
The recipe must contain at least ¼ cup of pure maple syrup. The recipe must make 4 or more servings. Contestants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to use Burton’s Maplewood Farm Maple Syrup. Recipes become property of the Indiana State Fair with rights to edit, adapt, copyright, publish and use without compensation.
Exhibitors who win the KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer are not eligible to enter the contest for 2 years.

Judging Criteria

50% - Taste and Flavor
25% - Creativity and Originality
25% - Texture and Consistency
