The Education Department at the Indiana State Fairgrounds is currently accepting registrations from volunteer groups to work at the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit during the 2020 Indiana State Fair!
Little Hands on the Farm pres. by CollegeChoice 529 is an interactive experience attracting over 20,000 child participants during the Fair each year. Throughout the experience, children engage in the agricultural process as a farmer would – harvesting crops and other commodities and doing chores on the farm. Upon completion of their tasks, children receive money for their work that they can use to buy food at the grocery store. The State Fair Education Department relies on the service of enthusiastic volunteers to interact with guests, run the different stations on the farm and restock supplies throughout the day.
Little Hands on the Farm is open from 9AM to 8PM daily. There are two 6-hour shifts available, 8:30AM-2:30PM and 2-8PM, with a maximum of 12 volunteer slots available per shift. Volunteers should be at least 13 years of age. All workers will be provided descriptions of each area of the farm in advance and will be rotated to different areas throughout their shift.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothing branded for their organization, and signage recognizing the organization will be placed at the entrance to Little Hands on the Farm. All volunteers will receive FREE admission and parking on their day of service.
